How it works
Formed in 1997 by the merger of Hansa Bryggeri in Bergen and Borg Bryggerier in Sarpsborg, and took over Christianssands Bryggeri in 1999; Norway's second-largest brewer. All Bergen production has been at Kokstad since 2002. Borg Holding (the Egenæss family) held the majority from 2002, with Spendrups and Bryggerigruppen as other owners; Royal Unibrew, already a 25 % owner, agreed in January 2022 to buy the other 75 % and closed the purchase on 25 May 2022. The Kristiansand brewery closed in 2022. Brands: Hansa, Borg, CB; Heineken and Clausthaler under licence. unverified info
