Cyprus KEO (Κυπριακή Εταιρία Οίνων, the Cyprus Wine Company) was formed in 1927 in Limassol as a wine maker. It began brewing in 1951 with a Czechoslovak recipe; KEO, a pilsner-type lager, won gold at the Brewing Industry International Awards in 1987 and by 2010 held about a third of the Cypriot beer market.
