The Mexico City works of Cervecería Modelo, opened in 1925 by Spanish immigrants. It brewed the first Corona and Modelo Especial (1925) and sold Negra Modelo on draught from 1926; the first exports to the United States followed in 1933. Corona Extra became the best-selling imported beer in the United States in 1997. Part of Grupo Modelo, and of Anheuser-Busch InBev since 2013. unverified info
