## About

A brewing firm founded in 1830 at Pole Street in Preston, which moved its brewing to the Lion Brewery in Blackburn in 1927 when it bought Nuttall & Co. It acquired Theakston of Masham in 1984 and was taken over by Scottish & Newcastle in October 1987 with 550 tied houses; brewing at Blackburn ceased in 1991.
