How it works
The brand of the brothers Victor and Gabriel Larue, who built an ice factory in Saigon (machinery shipped in 1886) and went on to beer; the label says "Depuis 1909" and the Cholon brewery was described as state of the art and was visited by the Governor of Indochina in 1921. Absorbed by BGI in 1927 and nationalised in the south in 1975. BGI products, Larue among them, returned in 1994 from a new brewery at My Tho (Tien Giang); Castel sold its stake to Foster's in 1997, and Foster's sold the Da Nang and Tien Giang breweries to Asia Pacific Breweries in August 2006. Larue is now a Heineken Vietnam brand. unverified info
