Founded in 1815 by Peter Rudolph Kymmel in Old Riga; in 1850 his son built the steam brewery C. L. Kymmel on Bruņinieku iela. AS Augļu eksports from 1919. Nationalised, after the war the Riga brewery, from 1959 the Riga wine and beer combine, from the 1970s the head of the production association Rīga. Rīgas alus after 1991, Kimmel Rīga from 2001; moved to Ādaži in 2002 and later went bankrupt. The old site is the Kimmel quarter. unverified info
