Founded in 1957 at Nago, Okinawa, and brewing beer from 1959; the head office is in Tomigusuku. It holds about 60 per cent of the Okinawan beer market and about 1 per cent of Japan's. Since 2002 it has brewed Asahi beers in Okinawa, and Asahi owns 10 per cent. Nomura and the Carlyle Group bought it in 2019 and it listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange in September 2025.
