How it works
A revival of the historic London name of Truman's, whose Black Eagle Brewery in Brick Lane closed in 1989. The brand was bought from Scottish & Newcastle in 2010 by two London businessmen; trial beers were brewed under contract by Everards in Leicester and Nethergate in Essex. A new brewery with a 45-barrel plant, using the original Truman's yeast from the National Yeast Collection, was built in 2013 at Stour Road in Hackney Wick. Brewing there was suspended in 2022: the company was renamed Big Penny and the Truman's name was sold to the owners of the Brick Lane site. unverified info
