How it works
Founded in 1876 by Charles Wells, who bought a brew house and 35 pubs in Bedford. The brewery moved from Horne Lane to the Eagle Brewery in Havelock Street in 1976. It sold the Bedford brewery and most of its beer brands to Marston's in May 2017 for £55 million, keeping its pubs; in 2019 the Wells family opened a new brewery on the north-west edge of Bedford as Wells & Co. Bombardier is its best-known beer. unverified info
