Japan Founded in November 1889 as the Osaka Brewery, the predecessor of Asahi Breweries; the Suita brewery was completed in October 1891, Asahi Beer was launched in May 1892 and the beer hall Asahiken opened in July 1897. Merged into Dai Nippon Beer in 1906 and, after the split of 1949, set up again as Asahi Breweries in September 1949. Asahi Super Dry (March 1987) started the dry wars of Japanese beer. Beer is made by Asahi Breweries under the holding company Asahi Group Holdings since July 2011; a system failure after a cyberattack halted its shipments from 29 September 2025. unverified info
