## About

The brewery of Charles Wells in Havelock Street, Bedford, built to replace the Horne Lane site: building began in March 1974, brewing in January 1976, and it was officially opened on 18 May 1976. Marston's bought the brewery and most Charles Wells beer brands in 2017 while Charles Wells kept its pubs; it passed to the Carlsberg Marston's Brewing Company, which agreed in November 2022 to sell it to the Spanish brewer Damm, whose first brewery outside the Iberian Peninsula it is, with a capacity of 1 million hectolitres a year.
