## About

Szczyrzycki Browar Cystersów "Gryf" belongs to the Cistercian abbey in Szczyrzyc (Lesser Poland). The abbey's annals from 1623 describe a light barley beverage the monks called cerevisia, and the first mention of Cistercian beer is dated 1628; until the 19th century they mainly made a watery beer of roasted barley for local farmers. In 1824 a brewery was built next to the monastery on its farmland, and it brews beer to this day.
