## About

Registered in June 1898 to merge Watney & Co., Combe & Co. (Woodyard Brewery) and Reid's Brewery (Griffin Brewery) into the largest brewer in London; the Combe and Reid breweries soon closed and production was concentrated at the Watney Stag Brewery at Pimlico. It merged with Mann, Crossman & Paulin in 1958 to form Watney Mann (row 166). Watney's Red Barrel, introduced in 1931, was its best-known beer.
