How it works
Registered in March 1899 to merge A. F. Style & Co. of the Medway Brewery, Maidstone, with Edward Winch & Sons of Chatham, together with 356 pubs; the Chatham brewery closed that year. The Medway Brewery, founded by William Baldwin in 1799 according to the Brewery History Society, was topped by a weather vane of a copper beer jug and glass. Barclay, Perkins & Co. bought the firm in March 1929 with 600 tied houses; brewing ceased in 1965 and the brewery was demolished. unverified info
