How it works
William Everard, a farmer, and the brewer Thomas Hull leased the Southgate Street Brewery in Leicester in 1849. The Southgate brewery closed in 1931-1932 and brewing moved to the Trent Brewery at Burton upon Trent, renamed the Tiger Brewery (about 1970, or after the freehold was bought in 1901), which closed in 1983; the Castle Acres brewery at Narborough opened in 1985 (1999 by the company). A new brewery at Everards Meadows, Leicester, opened in 2021. The family firm has over 170 tenanted pubs; Tiger is a beer. unverified info
