Founded in Strasbourg in 1746 by Jean Hatt; the anchor of the Saint-Guillaume church gave its beer the name Ancre. Moved to Schiltigheim in 1862. Joined Albra (Alsacienne de Brasserie) in 1969, bought by Heineken in 1972. After Fischer closed it also brewed Desperados, Fischer and Adelscott; about 1.1 million hl in 2014.
