How it works
The Tower Brewery on Pasture Street, Grimsby, where a brew house and malt kiln were finished in 1806; the Hewitt family took it over in the 1870s and Hewitt Bros Ltd was registered in March 1888. It controlled more than 300 licensed houses in Lincolnshire. Northern Breweries of Great Britain bought it in 1961 with 320 houses and the brewery closed on 19 April 1968; the cooperage on East Street is all that survives. unverified info
