Started in 2002 in a barn at the head of Esthwaite Water near Hawkshead, Lake District, by the former BBC correspondent Alex Brodie; it moved to Mill Yard, Staveley, in 2006. Halewood took a controlling interest in 2017, and a new brewery at Flookburgh, Cumbria, opened in 2018; the Staveley beer hall and taproom closed in late 2024.
