How it works
Brouwerij Smisje was started in 1995 as De Regenboog (The Rainbow) at Assebroek near Bruges by the former printer and home brewer Johan Brandt, with a first beer named 't Smisje. In 2008 it moved to the village of Mater in Oudenaarde and was renamed Smisje, using second-hand equipment from the closed De Teut brewery of Neerpelt. Production is about 200 hl a year, and the beers use honey, herbs and fruit. In 2010 the brewery announced that it would drop most of its old beers in favour of Smiske, a blond hoppy ale. unverified info
