Seychelles Breweries Ltd, known as Seybrew, is the country's only large brewery, at Le Rocher on Mahé. The British brewing men Robert Wells, W. N. Wells and C. V. Nash were promised an exclusive licence on 16 August 1967 and the company was registered in England on 28 October 1969; the first SeyBrew Lager went on sale in September 1972, with Jonathan Haase as managing director. Guinness followed in October 1972, Eku Bavaria under licence in 1984 and Coca-Cola in 1993; the Slow Turtle cider (2019), Vann Swet (2021) and Seybrew Strong (2026) are newer. Diageo's 54.4 per cent went to Phoenix Beverages (IBL Group, Mauritius) on 1 July 2025; the rest is held locally and the shares are listed on the MERJ Exchange. unverified info
