## About

Charrington United Breweries was formed in 1962 by the merger of Charrington & Co. with United Breweries (formerly Northern Breweries of Great Britain); it bought J. & R. Tennent of Glasgow in 1963 and in 1967 merged with Bass and Mitchells & Butlers as Bass Charrington. The Anchor Brewery on Mile End Road, London, stopped brewing in January 1975.
