Switzerland Founded in 1863 by Gottfried Egger at Worb on his return from the USA, where he had also founded a brewery; run today by the sixth generation. It gained from the closure of the Gurten brewery and peaked at 30,000 hl in 1997, then fell to about 15,000 hl. In 2020 it moved bottling and storage to Locher in Appenzell, and since September 2025 the Egger beer is brewed at Locher until a new brewery beside Worb station, on land bought by Locher and planned for summer 2026, is ready. unverified info
