How it works
The brewery at ul. Mickiewicza 5 in Szczytno (Masuria) was built for Friedrich Daum in about 1895-1898 on the lake shore as the Schlossbrauerei Ortelsburg, and made about 75,000 hl a year before 1939. It became state property in December 1946 and from 1950 belonged to Zakłady Piwowarskie in Olsztyn (about 80,000 hl a year in 1950-1980; Jurand beer from 1979); it was privatised in 1992 and listed as a monument in 1996. Beer production ended in 2001 when a vodka and liqueur maker moved in; the Gromek family bought the company in 2016 and its Mazurska Manufaktura brewed beer again from 2024. unverified info
