## About

Beer was brewed in Lwówek Śląski in the Middle Ages (the first record of the town's brewers is from 1209). The present industrial brewery began in 1861, when Julius Hohberg bought the town brewery of 1850; it grew into one of the largest in Lower Silesia, became a joint-stock company in 1921, was taken over by a Görlitz brewery in 1936 and nationalised after 1945. After Browary Karkonoskie S.A. (1994) and Browar Śląski 1209 of Wolfgang Bauer (1999), brewing stopped in 2007; Marek Jakubiak's Browar Ciechan bought it in March 2009 and brewing resumed in May 2010, with a brewing museum from June 2010. Since October 2018 it has been leased to the contract brewer Doctor Brew, which brews Lwówek and its own beers there.
