How it works
The plant in the industrial zone of Niamey went into service in 1967 as the Société des Brasseries et Boissons Gazeuses du Niger (Braniger), the only brewery in Niger. Nigerien press says it began as a state enterprise and passed to the French Castel group in the 2000s; a French directory of 1978 already shows the BGI group holding 82.66 per cent of a Braniger. It brewed Bière Niger (4.5 per cent) and the popular Conjo, and bottled Coca-Cola. After losses since 2014 its board decided in Paris on 14 May 2019 to wind it up. An extraordinary general meeting dissolved the company on 10 June 2019 and named a liquidator, Xavier de Boisset; 79 direct jobs were lost. unverified info
