Sake and shochu maker of Naka, Ibaraki, founded in 1823 by the village headman Kiuchi Gihei. It began making craft beer in 1996 after the change in the law, under the name Hitachino Nest Beer with an owl as its sign; some beers are matured in shochu casks, such as the XH.
