How it works
Dundalk brewery of Edward Macardle and Andrew Moore, who moved it to Cambricville in 1863; the firm goes back to a brewery set up in Dublin Street in 1837. It was registered in November 1895 and became a Guinness subsidiary in 1961, when Guinness took a two-thirds majority in Irish Ale Brewers. The brewery closed in May 2000, and Macardle's Traditional Ale is now brewed by Diageo at St James's Gate. unverified info
