How it works
Cervecería y Maltería Paysandú, a brewery and malt house in Paysandú that launched Norteña in 1947, also made Prinz, and backed the city's Semana de la Cerveza from 1966. Owned by the Swiss Eufra Holding (Oetker group) until AmBev bought 95.3% in late 2000 (2001 in another account) for about US$46 million. Brewing there ended between the late 1990s and 2003, after which FNC brewed Norteña; the malt house still works for AmBev and stopped for two months in March 2026. unverified info
