How it works
Started in October 1962 as the Donetsk Brewery with 7 million decalitres a year, then the biggest brewery in Ukraine. A joint venture was formed on its base in 1993, and on 27 October 2001 the company was renamed Sarmat after its main brand, launched in 1998. It was the centre of the Sarmat group, which also held the Luhansk, Krym, Dnipro, Poltavpyvo and Kyiv No. 1 plants until the assets were sold. SABMiller bought 99.84% in May 2008, Anadolu Efes took over in March 2012, and Efes Ukraine lost control of the plant on 1 February 2017. unverified info
