How it works
Edward Ind bought the Star Brewery at Romford, Essex, from George Cardon in 1799; he formed Ind Coope with Octavius and George Coope in 1845 and a brewery was opened at Burton upon Trent in 1856. It merged with Samuel Allsopp & Sons in 1934 and bought Taylor Walker and Friary Meux in 1959. In 1961 it merged with Ansells and Tetley Walker as Allied Breweries, which became Allied Lyons (1978) and Carlsberg-Tetley (1992). Brands: Double Diamond, Skol, John Bull. unverified info
