How it works
The Thistle Brewery in Alloa was built in 1870 by James Maclay, who had founded the brewery in 1830. It was the home of Maclay's ales until brewing ceased in 1999, and the company left it as an office in 2001. The brewery was later demolished and replaced by shops and flats, with only part left as a pub; the Maclay's brand is now brewed by contract. unverified info
