Founded in March 1988 in the old schoolhouse at Sandwick, Orkney, one of Scotland's first microbreweries, and later moved to the Victorian school of 1878 at Quoyloo. Norman Sinclair took it over in 2006 and rebuilt it as a 30-barrel brewery in 2010; Sinclair Breweries Ltd also owns the Atlas brewery, which merged with it in 2002. Its beers include Dark Island, Northern Light and Raven Ale. unverified info
