How it works
The Northern Clubs Federation Brewery, founded at Alnwick in 1919 when the brewery of George Stott Smart was bought; it began brewing in Hedley Street, Newcastle, in March 1921 and moved to Dunston, Gateshead, in 1980. Scottish Courage moved Newcastle Brown Ale there from the Tyne Brewery in 2005 and out to Tadcaster in 2009. The Federation Brewery closed in 2010. unverified info
