How it works
Formed on 30 December 1977 as Unicer – União Cervejeira, E.P., when the State merged CUFP (Companhia União Fabril Portuense, formed in Porto on 7 March 1890 from seven factories and nationalised on 30 August 1975) with Copeja (Santarém), Imperial (Loulé) and Rical (Santa Iria de Azóia). It worked from the former CUFP plant at Leça do Balio, became a public limited company in 1988 and was privatised from 26 April 1989 (49%) and fully in 1990. From 1992 it also brewed Carlsberg under licence. Renamed Unicer – Bebidas de Portugal in 2000 and Super Bock Group in 2017. unverified info
