How it works
Mac's beer was launched on 26 September 1981, with the Prime Minister Robert Muldoon present, at the former Rochdale cider factory in Stoke, Nelson, bought in 1980 by the former All Black Terry McCashin and his wife Beverley; brewer Jim Pollitt helped. Thought to be the first new brewery licence outside Lion and DB since 1931. Lion bought the Mac's brand in 1999 and leased the premises from 2000; Mac's was then brewed in Wellington, Christchurch and, after the 2011 Christchurch earthquakes, Auckland. unverified info
