How it works
Brouwerij Sterkens in Meer, Hoogstraten, says it has brewed since 1651; Dutch Wikipedia names Gerardus Sterkens as the founder and says the family has run it for 14 generations. Until 1990 the beer went mainly to restaurants and cafés in Belgium, and since then to export, which takes about 95% of the output. It is described today as a beer firm, formerly a brewery, and sells St. Sebastiaan, St. Paul, Hoogstraten Poorter and Bokrijks in ceramic jars. unverified info
