## About

Incorporated in Dakar on 18 December 1928 by Brasseries du Maroc with the Compagnie de Bordeaux group and Brasseries de la Meuse (capital 10 million francs); the Bel-Air brewery started in 1930 and made La Gazelle, ice and soft drinks. Merged with the Compagnie hôtelière de l'Ouest Africain in June 1966 and took over the soft-drink maker SODAGA in October 1973 and the brewer SIBRAS in 1982. Its main shareholder BGI (through SOGEPAL, which BGI absorbed in 1984) was bought by Castel in January 1990, and SOBOA has been a Castel subsidiary since 1991. The only large brewery in Senegal: La Gazelle (4.2%), Flag, '33' Export and Castel Beer; it lost the Coca-Cola licence in 2022.
