Brouwerij Roman at Mater, Oudenaarde, was founded in 1545 by Joos Roman, who ran the inn Clocke and was bailiff of the area, and 14 generations of the family have run it. Between the wars it was known for Roman Oudenaards bruin (Adriaen Brouwer since 2003), after the war for Romy Pils; it added soft drinks and waters in 1954 and the Sloeber in 1983. unverified info
