Founded in 1875 by Henry Wadworth, who bought the Northgate Brewery in Devizes, Wiltshire; the family moved to a new tower brewery nearby in 1885. 6X, first brewed in 1923, is its best-known beer. A new brewery on Folly Road, on the edge of Devizes, was built in 2022-2023 and replaced the Northgate site, for which housing was approved in 2025.
