How it works
Formed in 1958 by the merger of Watney, Combe, Reid & Co. with Mann, Crossman & Paulin. After the Pimlico Stag Brewery closed in April 1959 brewing was concentrated at Mann's Albion Brewery in Whitechapel and at Mortlake, which took the name Stag Brewery. It bought Wilsons of Manchester, Phipps, Samuel Webster and Ushers, and was taken over by Grand Metropolitan in 1972. It was merged with Truman, Hanbury & Buxton in 1974. Main brands: Watney's Red Barrel, Watney's Pale Ale, Mann's Brown Ale. unverified info
