## About

The Thebarton brewery on Port Road, Adelaide, began as the Torrenside Brewery in 1886 and later the Walkerville Cooperative Brewery (Nathan beer). South Australian Brewing took it over in 1938, and from 1949 it was the Southwark Brewery; Southwark Bitter, in fact a lager, got its name in 1951. After the Hindley Street brewery closed in 1980 the Thebarton brewery was named West End, and it closed in June 2021.
