How it works
The beer of the Stichting Haarlems Biergenootschap (founded 1992), which revives old Haarlem beers; two recipes found in the city archive, of 1407 (the gruit beer Koyt) and 1501, were the first. The company Jopen BV took over the beer in December 1996. It was brewed at the Halve Maan in Hulst until 1996, then at the La Trappe brewery in Berkel-Enschot, and since 2001 at Van Steenberge in Ertvelde, Belgium. The Jopenkerk, a brewery, cafe and restaurant in the former Jacobskerk in Haarlem, opened on 11 November 2010. unverified info
