Founded in September 1978 by Simon Whitmore, a former managing director of Courage Western, in old farm buildings at Butcombe, Somerset, with a £24,000 redundancy payment; for 21 years it brewed only Butcombe Bitter (Original). It was sold in 2003 and moved in March 2005 to a purpose-built brewery at Wrington. The Liberation Group of Jersey owns it (since 2015 by the Brewery History Society). unverified info
