Probably founded by Dětřich of Janovice around 1400; from 1474 it belonged to the Roudnice line of the Lobkowicz family. Destroyed in the Thirty Years' War and rebuilt in 1652, nationalised in 1948 and returned to the Lobkowiczs in 1992; sold in 2005–2008 and today the centre of Pivovary Lobkowicz Group.
